Jerry
Greenbaum was born February 1, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia. Following graduation
from Tulane University, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. As a junior
golfer Mr. Greenbaum won the International Jaycee Amateur, he has played in the
USGA Amateur four times and finished 3rd low amateur in the 1964 US Open at Congressional.
Mr.
Greenbaum was "out of tournament golf" for sixteen years due to business
commitments, but he returned to competition as one of the country's best senior
golfers having won 19 events and qualified for 2 USGA Senior Opens, 3 USGA Senior
Amateurs, and 2 USGA Mid Amateurs. In addition he was runner-up in the 1999 British
Senior Amateur.
Golf
Digest ranked Mr. Greenbaum as the 5th Best Senior Amateur in the United States
in 1999, the 3rd best in both 2000 and 2001; and in 2002, he was ranked the 2nd
best Senior Amateur in the country.
The
Georgia Golf Hall of Fame is honored to induct Mr. Jerry Greenbaum into the Hall
of Fame on January 10, 2004.
